Saw Hot Fuzz the other day. A good romp. Last night we saw Showtime. We must be on a police comedy kick.
So, Josh went in to work Friday, and came right back. He was a seasonal employee at Lowes...and the season ended. So he was able to come with the kids to my taiko performance on Saturday! Heather, Jason and Renee came, too, and so did Sarah D. They all sat together by Bill and Carter. We love the Macneils.
It was hot. We were all sweating before we even unloaded anything. Then we had to put on our happis. I was particularly sad to add socks. The performance wasn't our best, but it seriously beat the hot outdoor show we did last June at World Foods. The audience seemed small to me, but someone mentioned that you could hear us all the way across the lake, so maybe there were people secretly enjoying us all over the area. Heather's daughter took pictures with my camera. Lots of them were of people with their heads cut off, or of just heads, but on the whole she did well, and it was very nice of her to do it at all. I was very happy to have family and friends in the audience.
After the show we loaded and went to UMSL to put all the drums away. Then I took Michelle home. We talked about how all we wanted was dinner and showers. Imagine my surprise when I came home and had company. Our neighbors were here. So, first we helped Josh carry furniture to the basement (it had been in the garage and he had been waiting for someone to stop by and help him get it down the stairs). Then they played cards and I watched in a semi-coma. I probably wasn't much fun. I'm sorry about that, but on the other hand, I didn't get dinner or a shower. Dazed and glazed was about as much as I could handle.
And now what do you think we are planning? We are leaving in the morning to visit Brother for a few days! I am not the Last Minute Vacation type of girl. This is difficult for me. Mom came yesterday to take Jake for the rest of the week and I'm already starting to pack. It all seems so fast. But we are going to have lots of fun.
Today, however, is even less fun than I was planning for it to be. Josh and Uncle Jim are off to a wine...uh...thing for the day. The idea was that I do laundry all day, bathe the kids, then go fetch Michelle and go to taiko. I hadn't planned on Pogo.
Pogo is Uncle Jim's Chihuahua. He's orange with a white face, because he's not so young anymore. Pogo is staying here for the day. I was not warned at all. And Pogo is not happy to be here. He was been whining for 2 1/2 hours now, and I have to keep the doors to the downstairs and my room closed, because he is not ashamed of grabbing stuff. And he has smelly gas. But the most important problem is that I can't leave the room! First of all, Pogo seems to know that I am his babysitter, and follows me around. The other problem is that he is an old nervous dog, and bites when he feels threatened. And he's not used to kids. Fun. When the @#$* am I supposed to shower? Oh, and another thing. I can't put him in the back yard because he is small enough to fit between the fence and the gate.
RRR! And now I can't possibly leave until they get back. I really hope I'm not late. I hate being late.
Josh starts his first day at Pinkerton on Monday. That's very exciting. Yesterday we got lots of business stuff done, which felt great, some cleaning which was much needed, and I also made teriaki chicken legs, green beans, instant potatoes with garlic and cheese, and corn bread. Josh and I also finished off the chocolate pudding pie that I made Sunday.
I really need this dog to fall asleep or something. GAH! I'm losing my mind! What did I do to deserve this???
I miss you, Jake. *Sniff*
Well, I have plenty of laundry I should be doing. I'm just going to close my eyes (or ears in this case) and think of Colorado!
I am sending hugs to you all!
