What Just Happened?

So, if you schedule a kid orthodontist appointment for late afternoon and have to miss it, say because you mother confiscates your children - including the one with the appointment - and whisks them away on vacation, and then doesn't return them on the originally scheduled day, your next appointment will be 11 am on a Wednesday.


Grant needs braces.  In January.  Josh doesn't see it happening, finances-wise.  He was hoping for at least another year.  SURPRISE!


House.  Still ours. 


Josh's work is not really going super well.  The CEO can't decide what she wants Josh's department to do, and it's starting to piss people off.


I still love my work.  And they love me (I hope).  I am full-time now, except when I have to take my children to the orthodontist.


Grant is 10.  His birthday was while he was on vacation.  I didn't like not being with him on his birthday.  We had a party last weekend at The Emperor's Palace in Chesterfield.  Great fun!  Then we hung out at the mall with the Frankes and watched Muppet Most Wanted at their house.  And I made a gooey butter cake that looks like a minion.  Can I birthday, or what?


I think thinks probably aren't going to change, even though we sometimes want/dread for them to.


Did I mention that my mother moved to Louisiana this week? 


By the way, my mother took a job teaching English at LSU.  My mother.  Who complains about traffic in Rolla.  Who can't handle city crime.  In Baton Rouge.


I still haven't got over the shock.


My dad doesn't retire until November, and even then he will divide his time between the states.  Crazy.


All my taiko family came back from Japan, and now we have the daunting task of being ready for the Japanese Festival when it gets here, which is a week and a half from now.  EEP!
